According to a report for Bloomberg, tech giants Apple were reportedly very close to releasing a new iPad with a super-sized 14” body this year, which would have made it considerably larger than the current 12.9” model.
Allegedly, Apple are prepping for the release of a new iPad Pro model, set to hit the market in early 2024, with an OLED screen and 13” size. But they could have gone even bigger if that aforementioned report is accurate.
Mark Gurman, who authored the scoop, says that insiders within Apple were telling him since 2021 that a larger iPad Pro model was in the works but when it failed to appear, leaks continued to imply that Apple was still working on the concept. Apple has been leaking details about various products of late well before official announcements.
In June of 2022, word started spreading that a 14.1” iPad model from Apple would be unleashed in early 2023, with another report in October of that year even stating that a whopping 16” model was in the offing.
Whether these accounts were in any way accurate is tested by the fact that neither appeared subsequently. It would appear, at least for now, that Apple has little taste for a big iPad model, especially now with much attention focused on the upcoming new iPhone 14… but stay tuned.
