If you’re a regular gamer, being in a comfortable chair is pretty much a priority. And gaming chairs afford you that comfort combined with all the attached accessories you need to be the best gamer you can be!
But if you’re wanting to buy a gaming chair and you’re a bit of a novice in the field, where do you even start? The gaming chair industry has experienced exponential growth in the last couple of years, to the tune of around $1.2bn in 2022. With that growth has come a huge array of different types and models of gaming chairs.
No problemo! We’ve utilized our long experience in the gaming industry to compile this list of 5 tips you need to consider when buying a new gaming chair.
1. Which Type?
There are four broad categories of gaming chairs; PC Gaming Chairs, Console Gaming Chairs, Racing Simulator Seats, and Bean Bag Chairs.
First thing you’ll need to figure out is which type of chair suits your individual, specific needs.
2. Read Reviews
So you’ve figured out which type of gaming chair you want. You’ve looked over the different models of that type that are available and you see one you really dig. It has everything you require, it looks great, and it’s totally affordable.
Before you rush out and get it, read reviews about it first. See what other gamers are saying about it, both pro and con. Ultimately though, one person’s popcorn is another person’s poison and everyone has different opinions on the same thing. Don’t take every review as gospel truth, read between the lines, and most importantly… do your own research. It’s you that is handing over money for the chair so be very sure it suits your needs adequately.

3. Warranty
Most gaming chairs from reputable suppliers will come with a manufacturer’s warranty, that is, the manufacturer guarantees to repair or replace any chair that develops malfunctions within a set period of time.
The absolute last thing you want to happen is buying a chair that starts malfunctioning soon after you get it, only to discover the maker has no legal obligation to rectify the issues with that chair. So ensure any chair you’re thinking of purchasing has a guaranteed warranty attached.
4. Ergonomics
It might sound complicated but what it means basically is supporting the contours of your body while seated. Things like the backrest, neck support, adjustability of positions, armrests, and even the material of the chair itself.
This is one instance where it is much more prudent to test any chair you might wish to purchase at a physical store location rather than ordering it online first. You’ll want to be sure it’s not only comfortable but supportive of your body.

5. Dimensions
Size, in other words. How big is the chair and do you have ample space for it wherever you’re intending to locate it in your home.
Gaming chairs come in a very wide array of shapes and sizes so you need to first measure the space where you’re going to put it then contrast that with the dimensions of the actual chair itself to ensure you’ll have ample space. You may or may not have to compromise on your choice of chair, depending on available space vs chair dimensions, so keep that in mind.
We hope these tips will point you in the right direction when you’re looking for a new gaming chair to purchase. Good luck, gamer!
