The internet provider also starts selling refurbished sets at 50% discount
With a standard set for satellite-based internet provider Starlink retailing for a cool $599, not everyone has the dough in the current economic climate to purchase such high-end tech. Always the innovator, Starlink owner Elon Musk has therefore authorized the reselling of older, refurbished sets at the knockdown 50% reduced price of $299.
Starlink is at pains to point out to customers that the refurbished sets have been thoroughly cleaned, tested, and functioning at optimal capacity. This assertion of quality control by Starlink is no doubt in response to reports by some bewildered customers of receiving used sets that still even had the names of previous owners on them!
Starlink themselves fiercely denied these reports, and emphatically stated only new sets were delivered to subscribers unless otherwise stated. They did concede, however, that the packaging of some sets was damaged in transit, allowing some dirt and dust to collect on the sets therein.
Additionally, over the past weekend, Starlink boasted of now having 2 million active users that although sounding impressive, nonetheless is far below an internal Starlink report from 2015 that predicted a 20 million user base by the end of 2022.
